Collage Art

In class for topic we have been learning about plastic and how it is polluting the world. We have been making a collage to show what we have been learning. We included sky, land, sea and sand on our collages. We had two pieces of paper and stuck them together. Then we drew lines to mark where the land, sea, sky and the sand were. Then we got some magazines and ripped out paper strips of the magazines and stuck them on the background paper to match the environment . We used pva glue and stuck the strips of paper on the collage. Next we put them on the collage for the background. When we were done we drew some sea animals then we cut them out and stuck them on the collage. We found some plastic that we brought from home  and stuck it on the collage.
The bit that I thought was hard is the sand I think that it could be better next time with more yellow paper.

The bad thing about it was keeping up on the coloured paper by ripping it out and sticking it on the collage.

The hard thing was cutting out the fish, turtle, eel and the crab and sticking it on the collage. Next time we should add more animals like birds and we could also make the mountains higher.

persuasive bin liners

In room 5 we had do some persuasive of writing to our principal about not using bin liners at our school. We had to include three good reasons why we think bin liners should be used for better reasons at our school

10th September 2018

Dear Mrs Wallace,

People think that bin liners are good for a lot of reasons, I disagree. I think at Awahono School we should get rid of some bin liners. There are three good reasons why I think some bin liners should be banned at Awahono School.

Firstly, bin liners are used for paper and plastic, that means they are dry. The only bin liners we need are for the food scraps for the chickens because the chickens need food. We need the bin liners so we  can put all the food scraps in the bin liners because we do not want to get our hands dirty.

Secondly, did you know that we use 10 bin liners a day, 50 bin liners a week, 500 bin liners a term and 2,000 bin liners over the 4 terms a year? The bin liners use a lot of plastic and a lot of  money, and the more bin liners we use the more money we use.

Finally, bin liners use a ton of plastic bags. Bin liners  can be useful for a lot of things but at Awahono School we need them for the chickens only.

In conclusion, instead of buying so many bin liners, we could use the money on something else more important, like purchasing more chickens or having more sporting gear.

Yours sincerely,

Hunter

El Gregoe the magiccian ventrilaquist

On Tuesday morning the whole school went to see El Gregoe in the hall. We  were learning about bullying and how to react around it. We learned  about five ways to make  our school bully- free. I learned to talk to people when they are upset. My favorite act was when the macaw bird came out and then the dinosaur puppet  came out.
