Pet Day Procedural Writing

 In our school this term we had pet day and one of the pieces of writing we had to complete was a procedural writing which is instructions here is my piece of writing. 

This is how i fed my cat biscuit 

Step 1: wait until Biscuit annoys you then get up out of your warm cozy bed. 

Step 2: walk into the kitchen and look down at the ground and look for the biscuits. 

Step 3: kneel down and grab the biscuits. 

Step 4: walk to the tv then look down and you should see a plate down on the ground with scraps of biscuits in it. 

Step 5: Tip the biscuits onto the plate gently when you have put enough, bring the bag up so there aren’t any biscuits that come out.

Step 6: walk back to where you found the biscuits on the floor in the kitchen and then put them down on the ground.

Step 7: walk back to your bed or go back to what you were doing.

Step 8 If you now look biscuit there is a chance that you will see her looking at you or not eating the biscuits.

Step 9 now be annoyed because you just wasted two minutes and Biscuits not even going to eat the biscuits.

Pet Day Information Writing

This term in our school we had pet day and one of the pieces of writing had to be a information report on your pet. This pet day I decided to do it on my cat biscuit. I hope you enjoy my information report on my cat

Biscuit…

Who is Biscuit you might ask? Well Biscuit is my cat, in this information report I am going to tell you about my cat Biscuit.  Such as appearance, personality and what she likes to do. 

Biscuit has a bit of a different personality. She likes to sleep a lot during the day but at night it's really annoying because she won't sleep because she has slept all day. She is a bit of a curious cat. She always wants to go in my room and see what's in there. However the weirdest part about her is that she will sleep by the fireplace if it is going she doesn't do it much anymore but if you went up to her and touched her fur it would be really hot.

Her fur is as bright as a polar bear in a blizzard. If you haven't figured out already she is a full white cat there is no patch of any other color on her fur. She has dark green eyes and claws that hurt when she jabs you with them. She sometimes looks like a chubby cloud when she sleeps.

Biscuit likes to do a lot of different things some of which we don't approve of. She really really likes to jump behind the tv and pull the curtain aside and look at the birds outside. It's not just the tv, she will run around the house looking for birds because she can hear them on the roof. She  likes it when we roll up a bit of paper and roll it around because then she runs around attacking it and it's entertaining to watch. Anytime we paint outside she will rub against the paint and the half of her fur will be the color of the pain. She likes to be annoying sometimes but really all she is trying to do is have fun. 

In conclusion biscuit is sometimes annoying but she sometimes does a lot of things that we laugh at. She is an unusual looking cat, fully white and has green eyes. I don't know about you but I have never seen a fully white cat until now. I hope you enjoy my pet day project.

  

100 Word Challenge

 In room six we had to get a picture of what we wanted and describe it in 100 words no more no less exactly 100 words. I had the picture of a bird flying off a stick in a river here is my work.

It was a nice lovely day. It was as bright as the sun. when all of a sudden there was a big  splash noise from up the river the splash sounded like a gazelle running from a tiger and the gazelle was running  through the water like on the documentaries with David Attenborough as you look around the corner you see a big bird on a stick floating down the river and next the most magical thing happens the bird has taken flight it is now in the air and is flying away what a majestic take off I said.

Pet Day Narrative

The first week this term we had to present our pet day projects that we had been making the term before. one of the things we had to put on it was a Narrative. i did my pet day project on my cat biscuit i hope you enjoy my piece of writing.

Biscuit the hero 

It was a bright happy day when the cat Biscuit had woken up. The owner wasn't home at the time they had gone to work. Biscuit was walking around the house eating her food when all of a sudden she started to hear some commotion near the road outside their house. So Biscuit decided to go and investigate what was happening. When she walked outside the house using her brand new cat door,  she saw what was happening. There were two cats attacking the old people next door so obviously Biscuit did what she thought was best. That was to go to the store about  two minutes away and get some more food and then come back and help the neighbours.

However that didn't happen because the cats then went after Biscuit. I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure she didn’t like that outcome. Her idea was better she thought, I think at least. Then Biscuit had no other option but to attack the cats and save the neighbours. After a two minute fight between the two cats and Biscuit. Biscuit had come out on top after that she decided to go inside and just sleep and get the food a bit later. After about an hour the owner finally came home and then biscuit decided to wake up.

 She was really hungry but after a couple of minutes there was a knock at the door. The owner decided to open the door and the police were standing at the door. The owner asked why they were here and then the police officers said that they had some food for Biscuit for her bravery. The owner started to talk about what had happened and after the story they gave Biscuit the food and then she realized that she didn't need to go to the store to get food anymore.

 

Act It Out

For one of our tasks for the week we were able to act out a part of a book. Tane, Solly and me decide to do diary of a wimpy kid cabin fever. We did the part were Greg is shovelling the drive way. Enjoy.

Today we sighed up for the Summer Learning Journey we had to complete a colouring book on different things. like a wave the statute of liberality flowers and more I thought the wave looked the coolest so I ended up picking the wave.

Book Character Day.

 Today at our school is book character day. We get to dress up as any book character from a book. I  decided to be business poop from a emoji book.💩My costume consisted of a sparkly blue business Tie and a poo emoji mask. 

NZ Culture

 In room 5 we had to make a drawing with things in NZ culture. anything NZ could be added such as places, food,clothing or Evan city/towns. here is mine and Ty's NZ culture poster .

The Success To Become Famous

 In room 5 we have been learning about growth mindsets and fixed mindsets. A fixed mindset is were you believe you cant do something so you stop trying as your brain dose not yet know what to do. The mindset we want to have is the growth mindset a growth mindset is the opposite to a fixed mindset believing that you can do something you just have to keep trying. How the growth mindset works is you believe you can do something so you keep trying it because at first you get frustrated because the connections from one end of your brain to the other don't connect. But the more you try the better the connections are making you becoming successful at your goal. here is mine hope you enjoy. :)

How To Read Food Labels

In room five about two weeks ago a lady came in from Christchurch to talk to our class about food and how to read food labels. Food labels is a great skill to learn and i think it can help tons of people to eat heartily. Here is my explanation    

 Reading Food Labels By Hunter

 Reading food labels is an important skill to have and lots of people don't have this skill. In this explanation I will teach you how to read food labels properly. What are food labels? Food labels tell you how healthy the food is. There is a specific column to look at and that is per one hundred grams columns as shown here.

This is the only column that we look at or that matters. The food has five different main categories: energy,fat,sugar,sodium and dietary fibre. But however we don’t pay much attention to the energy the other four are the ones that we focus on. For a food to be considered healthy it must have less than 10 grams of fat,less than 10 grams of sugar,more than 5 grams for the dietary fibre and less than 400mg for the sodium. If it has more or less than it is supposed to then it is considered an occasional food. The dietary fibre doesn't fully matter, dietary fibre helps out your digestive system. But now that you know the requirements for the food to be healthy or occasional. What you didn't know about the foods you eat. I am going to tell you about the cereal and muesli bars that you thought were healthy that aren't.

Now you may be thinking you're crazy fruit loops are soooo healthy. But have a look at the column all the way to the right that is the per one hundred grams column that we looked at before. Now I want you to have a little look back and look at the requirements for the food to be considered healthy. So if you had a look back the requirements they were less than 10 grams of fat, less than 10 grams of sugar, more than 5 grams of dietary fibre and less than 400mgs of sodium. If you look at the fruit loops it has less dietary fibre than it should and more sugar so this would be considered an occasional food. Now let's look at something a bit healthier. 

Have a look at the last column. Fat is ok, sugar is good, dietary fibre is good and so is sodium. So this is a healthy food so you can eat this every day. In conclusion, I think that reading food labels is a good thing to know how to do and I personally think everyone should know how to read them to have a healthier life. Because I know that a lot of people are eating foods that are advertised on TV and they say they are healthy but aren’t. Let's have a look at this muesli snack. 

 That may be a bit hard to read but pay attention to the bottom left corner. The sugar is way too high and the dietary fibre is too low. So there you go you thought they were so healthy but you were fooled. So all it takes is to read the back or front of a food item like chips and then you can determine if you should be having this food every day or occasionally. How do you feel about this simple thing that can make you eat healthier?

Popcorn Writing

In room 5 last week we where making explanations on why popcorn pops! i hope you enjoy my piece of writing.

 Why Does Popcorn Pop? Pop! pop! pop! The sound of the great popcorn popping into one of the best buttery foods ever. But yes first we have to harvest it but luckily if you aren’t a farmer you can just buy it. But it is not just ordinary you have to harvest it otherwise no popcorn for you and you also have to go through the process to make the popcorn. There are tons of different types of corn but there is only one that actually pop’s popcorn must have the same amount of water. Not more or not less each kernel must have 19% of water for it to pop. Because if you have too much water it won't pop and the same if it doesn't have enough. let's be real who doesn't want perfect popcorn that pops or that is edible for that matter, if it is not edible then there is no more popcorn then. How the perfect popcorn is made with the best popping process. The kernels when they are added to a hot pan with some oil or butter then the popping process starts. The water temperature that is in the kernel increases it then turns into steam. Next the steam creates pressure on the layer on the outer side and then that creates the explosion. How it all starts now that i have explained the process now i am going to explain how it all stars. First the corn is planted and it eventually grows then it is harvested and some of it gets processed and is sold and some of it is turned into popcorn like how i just explained. In conclusion popcorn has a bit of a unique process to turn corn into popcorn. Overall popcorn is very unique in a lot of ways. It is kind of crazy to think that a vegetable is turned into a great buttery food. Quick question: what is your favorite type of popcorn? Mine is the movie theater popcorn. By Hunter

Describing An Image

In room five we have been describing from an image. I hope there is a lot of helpful comments that you leave.

It was a nice sunny day and here we see  an albino dog going for a walk.
 12 baby chicks are behind him and one of them seems to be really close to the dog's leg awwww as the dog gets bitten in the leg.  The dog is thinking well What such ferocious animals .

It looks like they're playing Follow the Leader but the baby chicks wanted to attack him instead.

Penguin report

In room five we are writing a report on little Blue Penguins. We had Lucy from the Penguin Trust to tell us about them hopefully you like it.

Little blue penguins such amazing animals but now they are starting to go extinct. Here are three Paragraphs and a Conclusion to tell you about them. Little blue Penguins live in the West Coast of New Zealand and in Australia.

 Predators  ever gone to the beach and let your dog off the lead well be careful because if they find a little blue penguin thats bad. Why do dogs do this is because they think they are toy and want to play with them.

 Little blue penguins can camouflage because they have white bellies and blue backs. So any sharks that look up will think that the little blue penguin is the sky. Any birds that look down will think that the little blue penguin is sea.       
     

Little blue penguins live on the west coast of nz on the south island and they also live in australia. They eat fish,sardines and squid.

Conclusion   I hope you learned at least something about these animals and make sure to keep a close eye on your dog at the beach.
